Victor Babeş
(July 4, 1854—October 19, 1926) was a Romanian physician, biologist, and one
of the earliest bacteriologists. He made early and significant contributions
to the study of rabies, leprosy, diphtheria, tuberculosis, and other
infectious diseases.
The Babeş-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca bears his name.
